British dance bands were big in the 1920s-40s
The Blitz 7 September 1940 and 21 May 1941. Over a period of 267 days (almost 37 weeks), London was attacked 71 times. Starting on 7 September 1940, London was bombed by the Luftwaffe for 57 consecutive nights. More than one million London houses were destroyed or damaged, and more than 40,000 civilians were killed, almost half of them in London. Cardiff and Swansea also targetted.

Cardiff Blitz looks epically bad, especially 2 January 1941.

Cambria's father was part of a group like this. She used to watch his performances, and after he was killed in a bombing she lied about her age to be allowed to sing in the band. (She was 15, she said she was 18. Dressed up and made herself up to look more the part - it helped that she was pretty well developed.) After a tour with them which failed more because of military operations than because of lack of talent or interest, she went back to singing with the band in clubs, and on the wireless, and finally to tour among the servicemen with ENSA. Due to her using the stage name Cambria Rose, she was encouraged to sing the song Rose of England, which soon became her own nickname, and her signature song.

15/16 in 1941 = born in 1925.
Japanese surrender 15 August 1945, world officially over 2 September 1945
By the end of the war, she was 19. Just barely - birthday between 15 Aug and 2 Sept?
After the war ended she continued to sing, at first sticking to the jazzy dance-band tunes and then, in the 50s, moving to a more pop sound and eventually developing a reputation as a soul singer. Her daughter, Myfanwy, was born in 1955 when she was 30 years old.
