But for all her many faults, Meaghan didn't actually want anyone dead (except maybe the person who came up with bacon, and they were long gone anyway). None of them had seen this coming. Catriona didn't care for the news industry, having been vilified by them in her day, and Meaghan didn't care about much of anything that wasn't Quidditch. Even muggleborn Donnie, who had been receiving threats, had chalked it up to individual psychos, not to an actual movement, and thought the people who were more worried than him were overreacting. He could probably be forgiven for that. He didn't even find out he was a wizard until after the first war, and the magical world had been kind enough to make him a rock star and give him literal piles of money. It wasn't until the Muggleborn Registration Commission that he was really alarmed. He knew his world history and his X-Men too well to fall in line, and he ran -- and being a famous muggleborn, was pursued. Some of the bravest refused to leave, instead remaining in Diagon Alley, wandless and feigning desperation, to help her organize and draw attention away from the fact that people were getting away.
